I bought shoes!

Yeah I know, any guys reading this will be saying 'big deal'. Honestly though, for me it is. I am so not a shoe person. I'm slightly flat-footed so a lot of shoes just look strange on me.

Anyway, I was given a new handbag from J's brother and fiancee after they visited Hong Kong but it really didn't look right with any of my current shoes. So I've been looking for a new pair to match it. I saw a really nice pair with a cute little leather flower on the top, only they didn't have my size. Probably for the best since they were $90. Eventually I found an el-cheapo pair that are quite cute - on sale for $21.

I'm very glad I didn't have to spend $90 on shoes, since I've spent a bit on clothes the last few days as well. In the last few years I've not enjoyed shopping for clothes, but since losing a bit of weight it's kind of a novelty to take stuff into the change rooms and find they're TOO BIG! Woohoo!

I must admit I haven't gone overboard in my spending. Apart from the fact that the post-Christmas credit card bill arrived (more than I'd like but not too bad), I'm still working on losing more weight. I'm hoping that by the start of summer 2007 (next December) I'd like to be in the position of having to buy a whole new wardrobe!

Like you I don't like buying shoes, mostly because they fit in the shop but when I try wearing them the next day they are invariably too big. Curiously a similar but opposite thing happens when I buy bras.

Donna and I bought new shoes recently as we'll be doing a lot of walking on holidays.

I had to try on about 10 different styles before I could find a pair where they had my size.

I won't tell you how much we spent, but it was more than the cost of the two Robbie Williams tickets we use that night.

My wallet and my shoes don't match, but I have learned to live that fashion disaster.

As long as you're happy, that's all that's important. But, yeah, I'm definitely in the "Um.. shoes? Yeah, ok, whatever" category.

Ahh -buying shoes... never used to be a chore, but now?
GOM runs crying everytime I mention I need shoes. And if I find a pair...the bloody dog eats them!

Good luck with the weight loss!

If the shoes fit, wear them.

Ah, presents. They're a great reason to do some more shopping!! I too have curbed my shopping this year - perhaps reality has hit home about saving!

It's great seeing clothes that are too big! I hope you achieve your dream by Christmas this year. Losing weight is extremely difficult so congratulations on what you've managed to achieve so far.

Yeah, I'm on the weightloss trend too....but I have been for over a year and gained more weight than I've lost.

Shoes = Happiness.

I've got about 30 pairs. Plus just as many pairs of flip flops.

velcro - I've heard your feet are larger at the end of the day and that's why it's the best time to shop for shoes - perhaps you need to shop earlier? No idea if that's the same for bras though!

fairscape - very true

steve - yipes! I'm guessing you'll get the worth of them if you're doing a lot of walking on your holiday. dogbait over at the meatareada blog could probably give some good advice about wearing them in too, I'm guessing. He's recently back from a big trip through Nepal and India.

jazz - limiting carbs and exercising daily (or nearly daily). I really need more clothes now but I'm making do for now. The bag is a bit of a Gucci knockoff tote. Quite cute. The shoes are brown and flat with three straps across the foot - 2 near the toes and 1 further up the ankle, with three squares about an inch in size joining them.

phos, robin and r2k - heh, usually I'm the one saying 'meh' about shoes. Me buying them is so rare, it's blogworthy ;) I'm usually the once every six months or even a year buyer too.

meggie - thanks and hehe, poor GOM.

my float - thanks. Good luck with your saving too.

charm school - 30 pairs plus more thongs (as we call 'em)? I'm not sure I've owned that many in my whole life. Ok, perhaps thats a bit of an exaggeration ;)

The weightloss thing is hard isn't it? Sometimes I'm losing so slowly I feel like I'm going backwards.

carmelo - if you peered in right now, you'd nod off! Been a pretty boring week or so lately.
