slack-jawed yokel

Ayup, that's what I feel like right now...

I've been to the dentist again and this time I did need to get some anaesthetic. Because the tooth worked on was sort of front right at the bottom, the needle was put in just down near my lip and now half of my bottom lip feels enormous. It's not moving very well either. I looked in the mirror and smiled earlier - damn near frightened myself to death...

Could be worse. Most of the women in Clovis, NM only had tooth, not teeth. NASCAR is big in Clovis, oddly enough.

Oh no, hope you didn't have a subsequent hankering for road kill squirrel and rename your kids Tiffany, Heather, Cody, Dylan, Dermott, Jordan, Taylor, Brittany, Wesley, Rumer, Scout, Cassidy, Zoe, Chloe, Max, Hunter, Kendal, Katlin, Noah, Sasha, Morgan, Kira, Ian, Lauren, Q-bert, Phil

I like watching people try to drink liquids with their face frozen...lol...they usually dribble all over!

Gotta love that anaesthetic! Drinking is a treat too!

The last time I got novocaine, my cheek swelled up - I had a grape-sized lump on the side of my face for hours. Very pretty.

Heh, thanks for the giggles everyone :) Numbness is gone but it's still a little tender, almost a day later (I'm wondering just how much he used!)

sussanah - nah, no hankering for road kill of any kind. Though if I ever have a girl - Gummy Sue is gonna be right at the top of the names list!

jin - yep, that was me yesterday. You should have seen me trying to spit out the rinse. I couldn't control my bottom lip so it was not exactly dignified.

monicker - I didn't realise that could happen. Are you allergic to it?

Does you face go white where the novocaine went into the tissue? Then the rest of the face goes beet red...
Sorry, reminiscing!
Sorry, but I did laugh.

When my younger brother left school he joined the army and was trained as a dental assistant. He told me the story once of one of the dentists he was working with.

Apparently, the very first time this dentist ever gave someone a needle while at dental school, had the patient complain that his shoulder felt wet. Turned out he'd stuck the needle straight through the patient's cheek and squirted anaesthetic on his shoulder.

meggie - if it did, then I missed it. Normal colouring by the time I looked in the mirror.

steve - I am so glad you didn't tell me that till after I went!

carmelo - lol - I've seen a pic of you (when you got your uniform remember), I hardly think you've got anything to worry about :)

sean - Yep, thank goodness! It's such a weird feeling.

r2k - lol :)

h&b - teeth problems are odd. I had a flatmate once who had the most shocking teeth I've ever seen. He took the most meticulous care of them too, which was a huge contrast to his brother and sister who had perfect teeth but didn't take so much care as he did.
