All growed up

Well, my sweet little baby is a big school boy now. J and I took him in this morning, found his spot in the classroom, put his water bottle in the basket with the others, his lunch box and hat in his tray, then hung his (now empty) school bag in the cloak room. We left him there happily drawing a picture and talking to the girl who sits next to him.

He was so excited to be all dressed up in his uniform (though I don't think he's going to like wearing the skivvies I got, he kept fiddling with the neck) and wearing his backpack. He barely waved when we left, so I think the visits a few weeks ago were a very good idea.

J and I got sniffly on the way out. You probably won't be surprised to hear I was more 'sniffly' though ;)

I feel at a bit of a loose end now (I have this week off work), but it's probably a good thing I have the new Harry Potter book to distract me until 3pm.

And did you have a tear in your eye when you left him at school? It's a year ago this term that my son started school and I remember that first day. I stressed out more than he did.

Awww !!
You did well!

I wonder what exciting stuff will come home in that backpack tonight ?

And Physie ( yes, we spelled it like that too ;) - OMG - I was kinda hoping there'd be another out there. How bizarre was the flashback for you ?

I'm still spinning...

He'll do well, you have given him a good start.

I finished Harry Potter this morning at bout 2AM. I wanted to finish it before someone blabbed the ending.

It is so strange when they first go off to school. You'll get into the swing of it before you know it!

It's pretty cool. And I totally understand the mixed feelings of pride and melancholy.

Awwww. I was blinking back tears when I took J.T. to his first day of Pre-K two years ago. He was SOOOOOOOOOO ready for me to leave... and I couldn't believe my baby was starting school. Bless his little heart, he practically had to shove me out the door, snapping photos and sniffling the whole way. I managed to embarrass him on his very first day.... a sign of things to come, I'm sure! ;-)

My first day in school I kicked the teacher, not a good start but I was a spoilt brat.

heh I will admit to shedding a tear or two when I got home!

h&b - watching that second video was a real mind flip. When the girls did that tip toe thing on the corners it all came rushing back.

david - lol... Hopefully Chickie won't follow your example!
