tooth fairy time

Yup, it happened - Chickie has officially lost his first baby tooth! I got a call at work today because he was so excited about it. At first I was a bit worried since the childcare centre usually only call if he's sick.

It seems like it's happened rather quickly, but I suppose it has been loose a few weeks now. I had a look in his mouth a couple of days ago and could see the adult tooth coming up behind it, so I should have guessed it wouldn't take long. I'll tell you one thing though - his new tooth looks like it's HUUUUUGE!! Honestly it looks about 3 times the size of his baby tooth. I'm wondering how the heck his adult teeth are going to fit in his mouth.

So, what's the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?

On another exciting note, a friend has just had her second baby today. Another girl and another big one - 9 pounds, 15! The first was also in the 9 pound range so they were expecting it, but my goodness that's a big baby.

Congrats to Chickie on losing his first tooth (are congrats in order when you lose a tooth?). Sorry, can't help out on the going rate for the tooth fairy but please do let me know when you find out!

Yay for Chickie!

Travis doesn't have ANY loose teeth. He only "lost" the one that had to be pulled.

BUT the tooth fairy brought him $1. Not sure what the currency is in Australia though.

I always thought that going to the bank and getting a hand full of 2 dollars bills was a novel way for the tooth fairy to visit.

I still have mine from 25 years ago with the date the tooth fell out on them.

Wow, now it begins. The tooth Fairy needs to shell out big bickies these days, as I understand it!
The news of the big baby brought tears to my eyes! No, not sad ones, just the thought of 9 pounds something!!

Well, it would seem that the average going rate appears to be $2 Australian (with some people giving $5 for older kids).

Mind you the tooth fairy hasn't been yet. Chickie asked us to hide it last night because he wanted to show his nanna.

The childcare centre taped it to a little certificate (for being brave when it fell out). I want to keep it together since it's so cute but now I guess I need to figure out a good hiding place :D

I am a mo! I just I never realized you where not in the US.

If you want I can hook you up with a couple of USA 2 dollar bills but I don't think they garner as much "wow" power in AU. No realizes they are no standard exchanged currency, but they are legal tender.

Might be cool to just give them a bit of a different countries, say like a rupiah and say "She must have just come from Bali, maybe she was over there surfing".

I think a gold coin is good enough. They work out pretty quickly that the gold ones are the good ones! A friend of mine, an excellent bureaucrat, said her toothfairy arrived with a written contract which stated clearly that the first tooth was worth $5 and subsequent teeth a gold coin. And her son was made to sign the contract. LOL.

I told Climber that the Toothfairy grinds up baby teeth to make fairy dust which she on-sells to all the other fairies so they can fly. So to keep her prices reasonable for all the other fairies, including the ones who were poor, she couldn't pay huge amounts to the kids.

I like the story you've told Climber :)
