okay...

Chickie and I were sitting watching a dvd this evening. We've had a really busy day (went to an indoor play centre with a friend and visited another afterwards) and he was very tired.

So, back to the dvd - they were playing some incidental music, which happens to be a variation of the show's theme. Chickie looked up at me and said:

"Mum, I love this music".

I said something non-committal like "really sweetie?". He nodded and replied:

"Yep, it's really beautiful music".

And what were we watching you may ask?

Bob the Builder. Yep, Bob the Builder!

I have got to start playing some real music around this house...

Can we fix it? Probably not. Is bob aussie down there or do they not bother dubbing him?

My son loves Bob too! He also enjoys rocking out to Meatloaf and Country (loooooves Rascall Flatts... but that's mostly because of Life is A Highway from Cars). Its cute.

We get the British version. We don't tend to dub a lot of things here. Well not tv shows, we do get a few ads that they dub from American voices to Australian, but it's so obvious it's awful. I haven't seen one in ages so perhaps they gave it up. I hope so.

So much of our tv is from the U.S. or the U.K. - so it's not like we haven't heard the accents many many times already. Though the dubbing is more likely to change words like 'mom' since we say 'mum' here.

That is cute, charm school reject. Chickie does that with the song from Ice Age 2 - I believe I can fly.

I like "Little Einsteins" ( note: NOT the wanky child-genius-DVDs, but rather something by Disney ).

Cartoon kids fly around a rocket to classical music. ATM, we're watching a 'Peer Gynt' episode, but you'll also hear Mozart, Vivaldi etc ... kids love it, and it's very soothing for mums to type to Blogs to ... :)

Yes, I can see your point. Bob vs Mozart?

h&b - I have seen Little Einsteins. It's not bad. Chickie does watch it occasionally but lately he prefers watching the Looney Tunes cartoons. He's a big fan of Duck Dodgers (you should hear him singing along with Tom Jones when he does the intro) and the Road Runner (he sings that one too).

my float - heh, I probably should get some classical music for him to listen to. He does hear a bit of chart music when in the car with me and dance music when he's in dad's car. His current favourite is Eskimo Joe's Black Fingernails, Red Wine.

izzy - I have to admit, having a child gives me a really good excuse to watch all those cute kid's movies/shows without being embarrassed ;) Bob is pretty cool. I'm quite over Thomas the Tank Engine though. I'm also very sick of the Looney Tunes stuff he's into lately.
